My Story:

As a child, I saw my parents demonstrate servant leadership by sacrificially helping others in our community. I followed their example and was recognized for my volunteerism as a teen in my hometown of Berea, Ohio (See the article below. My maiden name was Snowdeal). The theme of my life has been to live my “purpose” to help others as a way of sharing God’s love.

When I was 7 years old, I knew I wanted to be a nurse when I grew up. After graduating from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1990, I worked as a Registered Nurse in many different capacities. In 2014, I graduated from Western Governors University with a Master’s in Nursing Education.

One of the highlights of my career was teaching nursing clinicals for Indiana Wesleyan University. Of the several I taught, my favorite was Mental Health because it was a chance to overcome stigmas and show students how mental health is relevant to everyone.

In January of 2020, I changed my career path by leaving healthcare to focus on community outreach as a volunteer. The pandemic provided me an opportunity to address food insecurity and lack of access to resources. I also promoted collaboration among outreach organizations so efforts could be better coordinated and more impactful.

Because of my extensive work in the community as an advocate, several people asked me personally to consider running for an elected office. I realized my background and experience uniquely prepared me to become an effective advocate for our community at the state level.

There are several items in this website for you to learn about me as a candidate.  Please review these and consider supporting and joining my campaign to become “Your Voice of Choice” as your Indiana State Representative, District 34.
